Dear Misplaced:
I need to take a moment to clarify the language that I have been using to describe both your current and my past state of “misplaced”. On the surface, one might mistake the word “misplaced” for the word “lost”. While they are both similar descriptions, there is one very important difference, and that would be in the intent in which it is stated.
For example, if I would state that “I misplaced my keys”, many might also interpret this as, “I lost my keys”. The difference here would be the value that I place on the state of the keys. The keys hold value in that they provide use or access to a location or device. The keys did not lose their value because of their unknown location. I still need them, and they still hold value to me. In other words, the state of the keys is temporary because of my intent to recover them. Misplaced things hold value, and lost things are seen as something that are not cared enough about to find again. That is why you are merely misplaced and never lost; you are valued.
It’s not to say that someone will always value you; perhaps someone did or pretended to at one time. Loss and rejection are painful, but we all hold value; even if our value is only recognized in ourselves. As someone of faith that personally believes in God; I know that He values me as He does all humans. He always finds me wherever I decide to go; even in the bad places that I have wandered. Valued – period.
Right now, you may not feel valued but keep in mind that this is a temporary state because you will be found and cherished again; even if that seeker is only you. So, seek and find your mind. Seek and find your healthier self. Seek and find your soul. You are more than worth the effort.
Until next week, find that lost value within yourself. You are worth so much more than keys!
